Alex Paints Essentials Deluxe — 4 Sable Rounds, Walnut

The workhorse of the painting desk: our round Kolinsky sable paintbrushes are the natural-hair brushes serious miniature and bust painters reach for again and again. Kolinsky sable holds a fine point and carries a generous reservoir of paint, giving you smooth colour laydown and pin-sharp control — ideal for faces, layering, glazing and fine detail alike.

Choose your size from the full range: 3, 2, 1, 0, 00, 000, 4/0, 5/0 and 10/0, plus two “short” versions (size 1 and size 0) whose 5mm hair — against our standard 10mm — gives extra stiffness and control for tight detail. Suitable for oils, acrylics and enamels, and designed for modellers by modellers.

Which size?

The tiny 10/0–4/0 are for the very finest lines and eyes; 000 and 00 for facial detail and edge work; 0 and 1 are all-round detail brushes; 2 and 3 carry more paint for larger areas and base work. Prefer a ready-made selection? See the 6-round set or 8-round set, and browse all our round sable brushes and the full Hawk paintbrush range.

Built for the tabletop: our Micro & Gaming paintbrushes pair quality hair with ergonomic, polished walnut handles that sit comfortably in the hand through long painting sessions. It’s the range designed with wargamers and gaming-figure painters in mind — from base coats to the finest highlights on 28–32mm miniatures.

Choose a single brush from the range: Kolinsky sable rounds (4, 3, 2, 1, 0, 000, 10/0), sable flats (1, 3), a synthetic liner (20/0) for the very finest lines, and synthetic flat angulars (2, 4) for edges and dry work. Suitable for oils, acrylics and enamels, designed for modellers by modellers.

A curated everyday kit: the Alex Paints Essentials set gathers 4 round Kolinsky sable paintbrushes in sizes 3, 2, 1 and 0 — the core sizes that cover the vast majority of miniature and bust painting, from laying in colour to fine detail. Developed in association with painter Alex Paints, it’s a tidy, no-fuss selection for painters who want the sizes that matter and nothing they don’t.

The set comes in a biodegradable packet with protective covers for the hairs. Suitable for oils, acrylics and enamels, designed for modellers by modellers.

The fine-detail trio: the Vernissage Mini set gathers three synthetic Kolinsky-filament brushes in sizes 01, 02 and 03 — the smaller sizes for detailing, edge work and tidy control. A great-value synthetic option that holds a fine point without the cost of natural sable.

The set comes in a cellophane packet. Suitable for oils, acrylics and enamels, designed for modellers by modellers.
