New Video: Alex Paints Tests the Space Marines Intercessors + Paints Starter Set (and Recommends a Better Brush)

Alex from Alex Paints has made a habit of painting Games Workshop’s starter boxes exactly as they come, brush included, to see how far a beginner can get. In Can the New Warhammer Space Marines Intercessors + Paints Starter Set Win Me Over? it is the turn of the new Intercessors set.

Where Hawk comes in

When Alex sums up what he would add to the box, the first thing on the list is a better brush. He is clear that you can paint with the one in the set – the video proves it – but that you will enjoy yourself far more with a decent natural hair brush, and that Hawk Miniatures is “a brilliant place to start without spending silly money”. He calls it the best recommendation he can make to a painter who has just started, and notes that our prices are low enough not to be prohibitive.

What else is in the video

Alex works through the full set: what you get, how the included paints behave on power armour, where the box succeeds for a first-timer and where it falls short. If you or someone you know is picking up a starter set this year, it is a useful watch before you open the box.

Alex’s channel, Alex Paints, is worth a subscribe if you paint Warhammer or any other small things – it’s one of the more honest voices in the hobby, and he only recommends what he actually uses.
