New Video: Top Tips for New Warhammer Painters – Alex Paints on Upgrading to Kolinsky Sable

On brushes

Alex’s brush advice is to upgrade to a natural hair brush, ideally Kolinsky sable, sooner rather than later: it keeps a point for much longer and has better spring than synthetic. He then explains that he partnered with Hawk Miniatures because we make Kolinsky sable brushes at a beginner-friendly price – “just a few quid” – and that he put together a starter pack with us covering a range of sizes, available with regular or walnut handles.

The rest of the tips

The video also covers priming, thinning, washes, when to use a wet palette, how to judge “finished”, and how to stop comparing yourself to painters with ten years’ head start. Short, direct and worth ten minutes.
